In occasione dei festeggiamenti per i vent’anni di carriera, i Wilco hanno annunciato la pubblicazione di ben due box set con materiale d’archivio. il 27 novembre prossimo arriveranno infatti nei negozi Alpha Mike Foxtrot e What’s your 20.
Il primo è una raccolta di 77 brani, divisi tra rarità e registrazioni live: il cofanetto si comporrà di quattro CD o quattro LP e sarà disponibile anche in digitale. Ad arricchirlo, delle note traccia per traccia scritte dal frontman della band, Jeff Tweedy, e da commenti di Nels Cline e John Stirratt, della band. In più, una serie di foto d’archivio.
What’s your 20, invece, è un CD doppio che racchiude 20 brani dagli otto album di studio della band più degli estratti da Mermaid avenue, il disco in collaborazione con Billy Bragg. La compilation sarà disponibile anche in formato digitale.
Entrambi i box sono stati prodotti da Cheryl Pawelski, in passato al lavoro su progetti analoghi con artisti come Big Star, Band e Townes Van Zandt.
Non è finita qui: i Wilco hanno anche annunciato una serie di sei concerti al Riviera Theatre di Chicago ribattezzata Winterlude 2014, in partenza dal 5 dicembre. La particolarità dei live è che ogni serata ci sarà una scaletta diversa.
