Polydor e Mute hanno annunciato per il prossimo 24 novembre una ristampa speciale: si tratta della nuova edizione del terzo ed omoniomo album dei Velvet Underground, pubblicato in origine nel 1969 (fu il primo senza il co-fondatore John Cale).
Il disco sarà disponibile in un cofanetto “super deluxe”, comprendente ben 6 CD: tra questi, anche il materiale tratto dalle session per album inedito e risalenti all’ottobre del 1969 al Record Plant di New York, con ben 10 missaggi inediti e la versione originale di Ocean, che fu poi reincisa proprio da Lou Reed per il suo primo disco solista.
Nel cofanetto, che comprende in totale 65 brani, trovano posto, oltre a tre missaggi della tracklist di The Velvet Underground, una serie di outtake e le registrazioni live al Matrix di San Francisco del 1969. La ristampa è arricchita dalle note di David Fricke di Rolling Stone.
