NME ha reso noto l’elenco dei candidati all’NME Awards, il consueto premio che la rivista inglese assegna ogni anno al meglio (e al peggio) della musica, della tv, della letteratua e persino della politica.
La prima novità, quest’anno, è che il premio si svolge in partnership con la città di Austin, Texas (come recita il claim, «la capitale mondiale della musica live»). Sono 26 i “nominati”, scelti tramite il voto dei lettori: tra questi, spiccano gli Arctic Monkeys, con ben otto candidature (tra cui quelle per il miglior album, la miglior band live e la miglior band britannica).
Ottimi piazzamenti anche per Haim (6 nomination), mentre più giù, con due nomination a testa, ci sono i Palma Violets, i Queens of the stone Age e David Bowie, candidato nelle sezioni “Miglior artista solista” e “Eroe dell’anno”.
Curiosa la sezione “Cattivo dell’anno”, in cui troviamo il premier inglese, David Cameron, Harry Styles degli One Direction, Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke e il conduttore radio, tv ed attore Russell Brand.
