La grande bellezza di Paolo Sorrentino ha ottenuto una nomination ai Golden Globe nella categoria “Miglior film in lingua straniera”. La pellicola del regista italiano, che proprio pochi giorni fa aveva trionfato agli European Film Awards, si trova in buona compagnia: completano infatti la cinquina La vita di Adele di Abdellatif Kechiche (vincitore della Palma d’Oro), Il sospetto di Thomas Vinterberg, Il passato di Asghar Farhadi e The wind rises di Hayao Miyazaki.
I Golden Globe sono i premi assegnati dall’associazione della stampa estera ad Hollywood, e tradizionalmente sono considerati un buon indicatore delle preferenze dei giudici dell’Academy per gli Oscar. Nelle altre categorie, ben sette le nomination ottenute da 12 years a slave, la pellicola di Steve McQueen con Michael Fassbender e Brad Pitt, candidata anche al titolo di “Miglior film drammatico”. In quest’ultima categoria figurano anche Captain Phillips con Tom Hanks, Gravity di Alfonso Cuaron, Philomena di Stephen Frears e Rush di Ron Howard.
Nella categoria “commedie” troviamo American Hustle di David O. Russell, Her di Spike Jonze (premiato al recente Festival del Film di Roma per la voce di Scarlett Johansson), Nebraska di Alexander Payne, Inside Llewyn Davis dei fratelli Coen e The Wolf of Wall Street di Martin Scorsese.
