Gli anno, agli European Festival Awards vengono premiati i migliori festival musicali d’Europa. I vincitori per il 2013 sono stati annunciati la scorsa notte al De Oosterport di Groningen, in Olanda.
La serata, che ha visto anche l’apertura ufficiale dell’Eurosonic, il festival organizzato dalla fondazione Noorderslag, ha visto trionfare la Germania: ben 5 i premi, nelle categorie Best Indoor Festival (Metal Hammer Paradise), Best Line Up (Berlin Festival), Best Medium-Sized Festival (Melt! Festival), Promoter of the Year (FKP Scorpio) e il riconoscimento alla carriera a Marek Lieberberg, il fondatore dei festival gemelli Rock Am Ring e Rock Im Park.
Non solo numeri, ma anche qualità. Tra i premiati, figurano infatti anche lo svedese Way Out West e lo svizzero Paleo Festival: il primo ha ottenuto il Green Operations Award e il secondo l’H&S Innovation Award, come manifestazioni attente all’aspetto ecologico e innovativo.
Insomma, anche in materia di rassegne musicali, la Germania è ad oggi la regina d’Europa. L’Italia, con realtà interessanti come Milano City Sound, Lucca Summer Festival, il rinato Rock in Idro, Rock in Roma e il più “indie” Ypsigrock, ha ancora molta strada da fare, sia in termini di cultura del festival che di strutture adatte ad ospitarli.
La serata degli European Festival Awards ha visto anche l’esibizione di alcuni nomi “caldi” tra gli artisti europei emergenti: gli irlandesi Kodaline, i tedeschi Milky Chance e Prata Vetra dalla Lettonia. E a proposito di band: tra i vincitori figurano anche i Daft Punk: la loro Get lucky è l’inno da festival dell’anno. Headliner dell’anno, invece, gli Arctic Monkeys.
