Daft Punk, David Bowie, Queens of The Stone Age, National, Led Zeppelin: non si può certo dire che le candidature ai Grammy 2014, rese pubbliche ieri sera, non presentino nomi d’interesse. I Daft Punk, in particolare, sono presenti sia nella categoria “Album of the year” che in quelle per il miglior disco dance/elettronico (in cui dovranno vedersela con i Disclosure), per il “disco dell’anno” e la “miglior performance pop di duo o gruppo” con Get lucky.
Per l'”album dell’anno” sono in lizza anche Kendrick Lamar con good kid, m.A.A.d city, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis con The heist, Taylor Swift con Red e Sara Bareilles con The blessed unrest. David Bowie, Queens of the Stone Age, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin (con Celebration day) e i Kings of Leon figurano invece nella cinquina del “best rock album”. Per il “best alternative album”, il miglior disco di musica “alternativa”, in gara ci sono anche i National di Trouble will find me, i Nine Inch Nails di Hesitation marks, Modern vampires of the city dei Vampire Weekend, The worse things get, the harder I fight, the harder I fight, the more I love you di Neko Case e i Tame Impala con Lonerism.
Tra gli artisti emergenti, oltre a Kendrick Lamar (per lui 7 nomination) e Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, anche James Blake. Per Kanye West e il suo Yeezus, una candidatura nella cinquina dei “best rap album”. Unico italiano presente (anche se non in gara), Ennio Morricone, che riceverà il Grammy Trustees Award 2014.
