S’è svolta ieri sera, al Troxy di Londra, la cerimonia di consegna dei NME Awards 2013, i premi della storica testata inglese, assegnati come di consueto dai lettori. L’appuntamento, presentato dal comico Russell Kane, ha visto assegnare ai Biffy Clyro il premio come miglior band inglese, mentre tra i solisti la vincitrice è Florence + The Machine. Il miglior album è invece Given to the wild dei Maccabees. Ai Foals, con Inhaler (primo singolo estratto dal nuovissimo Holy fire), il premio per il miglior brano.
Tra gli esordienti, trionfano i Palma Violets (freschi di stampa di 180 per Rough Trade). Per contro, ai veterani Rolling Stones due riconoscimenti: “Best Live Band” e “Best Music Film” (per il documentario di Brett Morgan, Crossfire hurricane). Migilior act internazionale, i Killers. Tra i premi non musicali, invece, “Hero of the Year” è il Presidente USA Barack Obama.
